Christine Rich Studio presents an annual dance recital, which showcases the talents and hard work of our dedicated students. The recital is held at Foellinger Auditorium on the University of Illinois south Quad.
At the Christine Rich Studio, our annual dance recital is a fun and valued experience for all of our students and families. We take this annual event to the next level with a professional crew, sound and lighting team, costumes, stage makeup, and the beautiful surroundings of The University of Illinois' Foellinger Auditorium.
When students are enrolled for classes in the fall they focus on learning and consistently improving dance technique. Yet, during the spring semester the classroom focus shifts to learning and perfecting choreography for the spring dance recital. The show is always a huge hit with the entire community because it brings all levels of our tap, jazz, hip hop, Irish, and ballet classes
together to shine in front family and friends on this very special day. Even the two year old class performs the infamous "Bumble Bee" dance every year, and every year it brings the audience to tears of laughter and tears of joy.
Our second act of the recital is always classical repertory ballet
excerpts for our Ballet I and higher students. These ballets are beautifully staged by our Ballet Director,
Luciana Rezende (recognized in Chicago for her staging and choreography) and have included: Giselle,
Don Quixote, Coppelia, A Midsummer's Night Dream, The Nutcracker, La Fille Mal Gardee, La Boutique Fantasque, Napoli and the third act of The Sleeping Beauty.
As the recital comes to a close, the children really feel a great sense of pride and accomplishment because their shining moments on stage have come from months of hard work and dedication; and that is the greatest self-esteem booster of all.
