The Christine Rich Studio has the "SECRET WEAPON" for sports training of boys age 15 months old and up. This is what Hall of Famer Lynn Swann studied as a child leading him to be a standout in high school and pro football.
As the premier dance training facility in the Midwest, right here in Savoy, IL, we have known the enormous benefits of dance training for children. We've been training for 21 years.
We have seen the enormous impact of cross-training our boys. They, as well as our girls, can outscore entire male basketball or football school teams in P.E. testing. They beat them in everything from push-ups to flexibility to vertical jumping. So it makes sense that with exceptional results like this, every boy should sign up for dance training to supplement their athletics.
Then why aren't boys in dance training for sports achievement? The peer pressure starts by kindergarten. In our country as well as others, the stereotype prevails: "girls dance, boys do sports." Society, media, and families pass this tidbit onto every generation.
However plenty of boys naturally want to dance! And so do professional sports players of today — from yoga to dance, they are cross-training to get an edge. Half of the moves on a court or field are trained for in dance! Dance and Acrobatics train for lunges, quickness, coordination, jumping, flexibility, strength (they eventually lift girls overhead often with one hand) and so much more. But... the societal pressure continues that 'boys don't dance' and boys continue to be less than they could be athletically.
In the 70's there was a famous study where researchers studied every male athlete (football, baseball, basketball, skiers, track & field, tennis, marathoners, wrestlers, etc.) to find the best all-around athlete in athletic markers (strength, stamina, quickness, jumping, etc.) and they found that by a wide margin the top athlete was: the male ballet dancer. Take a minute and look at some of the athleticism exhibited on this website: www.badboysofdance.com. Once there, click on the top tab "Gallery" and select "Boys Solos" and look at 'Nick Lazzarini'.
Play it a second time and look at the height of the jumps, the stamina, the control and coordination, the athleticism, the speed of turns and running and you will see how these skills would give any boy a huge advantage with any coach, or over a pile-up near the end zone, a slam dunk, or... the school dance. (The girls are always charmed by a boy who knows how to dance.)
Such dance-trained boys would be in excellent fitness, have the energy and rhythm to outsmart their opponents, and their minds could quickly absorb what the coach was asking for. Coaches and forward minded parents now have an answer.
The S.A.M. Program at CRS starts at age 15 months. Our toddler boys take the same classes as girls at age 15 months, 2 years, and 3 years. At age 4 and up they may continue training with the girls or move to our S.A.M. Program for boys only. As the boys age, they continue to train in the S.A.M. Program year round in addition to their specific sport(s) with their coach.
It's quite simple but it does take dedication and commitment and attendance. The results are astonishing. You will end up with a son who is well-mannered (we don't allow bullies in the program), focused, strong and fit who will improve academically.
